Poppin’ Fresh has a night of terror

Back a few years ago Wendy used to operate an entrepreneurship program for newly unemployed women in the community. These were educated women who recently had found themselves redundant and who had always dreamed of running their own businesses.

Wendy was there to guide them through the niceties of business plans, financing, realistic quests, marketplace demands, and the assorted pitfalls to be avoided.

An important aspect of the process was group interaction, for which she used a talking ‘circle’ and, in the tradition originating with native North Americans, she employed a ‘talking stick’, which was to be passed from the finishing speaker to the one ensuing.

Rather than a plain old stick, however, she employed something ‘softer’. She used a Poppin’ Fresh doll. The women took to the Doughboy and he assumed a place of prominence in their esteem and affections.

One night, however, a crime was committed. A couple of bad guys broke into the classroom. They ripped off a TV and a computer. Wendy was aghast when she arrived at the room the next morning and saw the mayhem that had been perpetrated. Mr. Poppin’ Fresh, however, was not taken.

In fact he was still sitting in a chair where he had been placed the previous afternoon. However, the chair was turned around towards the wall and his face was to the wall.

The perps didn’t want to leave a witness, you see.

Later they were caught and charged with that and a number of other break-ins.

Fortunately Poppin’ Fresh wasn’t called as a witness.
